Highlands Foundry X Salt Still Collaboration

This piece was created in collaboration with another talented maker Salt Still. The Haori style jacket was made using vintage handwoven and indigo dyed cloth from Burkina Faso, West Africa. The cotton cloth is from the 1960s and is in amazing condition. The jacket has a hand knotted fringe at the bottom hem and a wide kimono sleeve. We used several different vintage indigo cloths for the sleeves and front and arm bands to give it a unique look and feel. After we designed and sewed the jacket, Salt Still created a beautiful "Log Cabin" patchwork panel made from vintage pieces of African indigo, for the back of the kimono.

The jacket is a relaxed fit based off of a vintage Japanese Haori jacket. This is a one size fits all and unisex piece.
